Worth a visit - Was so glad we found this place, even more so as my 10 year old loves history. Your entrance ticket gives you access to the museum for 7 days... read more from purchase, you can also pay extra for a tank/military vehicle ride and for air shooting. There is also a small cafe attached that serves delicious food
The staff are so friendly and knowledgeable about the displays and we had a fantastic time. They recommended 1-2 hours for a visit but we spent a little over half a day here with the museum, a ride and a late lunch.
The museum is not huge but is jammed packed with lots of history. You first step in to the armoury with weapons from different wars and years and one of the gentlemen gave us some interesting information on the different equipment.
They next room, shows the history of war for men and women and life during these time and then you step into the vans, cars, bikes and then tanks. There is also talks on the guns and history. You are also able to sit in one of the tanks for a small contribution of £1. Again the gentlemen here are knowledgeable on the tanks, equipment and everything you can think of and if they didn't know, the other guy does!
The 6 wheeler ride was awesome. We went round a small off road track and you could feel the buzz if excitement oozing from the driver. But it doesn't just stop at the ride, after you San check out the scope and then we had a fab discussion about the vehicle, the other tanks and we also got to see the equipment they are repairing and the plans for the future.
The staff here are wonderful. My son is very knowledgeable on historical wars and really enjoyed the discussions with everyone there and learnt a lot more. They even went into discussing the uniforms and types of buttons on these uniforms on the models in the cabinets to the types of wheels and tracks on the tanks. Wow, just wow!
Would totally recommend this museum, even if you are not a war geek like my son. So interesting and great displays.
